Last ten years has seen the prosperous achievement of National Vocational College Skills Competition on Teaching Ability which is held to improve the teaching ability of vocational college teachers. This paper outlines the evolution of college English teaching ability in China from 2010 to 2019 by using a method of knowledge mapping. CiteSpace was used to analyze the circulation, word frequency statistics, clustering features , burst with 2046 papers published on CNKI . Findings show that the top five hot research topics of college English teaching ability during this period are college teachers, ESP teaching, cultivation research, teaching modles and learning strategies. Key words burst suggest that future promising research in this field focus on information technology, teaching ability, teaching ecology ect.
